Located at the very top of the Layers Palette are the colourway tools. These are used for scrolling through, adding deleting and locking colourways.
- The arrows - click on these to scroll to previous and next colourways
- The number - this is the index of the active colourway
When you click on this number, the Colourway Chooser opens and you can use the buttons in the bottom left hand corner of the window to adjust the viewing size of this small window.
Alternatively, with the Colourway Chooser open, tapping your = key on the keyboard will increase the size of the window, and tapping the – key will reduce its size.
Animated colourway changes can be switched on or off using the small eye button indicated below.
If animation is switched off, you can glide your cursor over the colourways in the chooser, or use your arrow keys to tab through them, and the design window will not update to show the activate colourway. Switching it on means the design window will update in real time to display the selected colourway.
- The padlock in the Colourway Chooser - this button lets you lock colourways from within the Colourway Chooser. Click this button to show, hide or change the locked status of the colourways
When the padlocks are showing above the colourways in the Colourway Chooser you can either click on one or drag over several to change the locked status.
You can duplicate colourways from within the Colourway Chooser by hovering over one and pressing cmd J, and you can delete colourways by pressing the backspace key on your keyboard.
- The + and - buttons - use these buttons to add and delete colourways from your file
- The padlock - simply click on the padlock to prevent the recolouring of any layers in that colourway
Click the padlock icon again to unlock the colourway
