Fade Unselected Layers: Focus on the layers you are editing

Fade layers you are not working on so the layers you are editing are seen more clearly

This feature is designed to help view overprinting areas without having to make layers invisible. When a design has several layers printing on top of each other, certain areas can be hard to see because of the weight of tone in them. Fade Unselected Layers can be used to view only the relevant layers, without actually switching off the others.

  1. Activate the layers in the Layers Palette which you want to check make stand out from the other layers.
  2. Go to View Menu > Fade Unselected Layers. The active layers will remain as they were before, but the unselected layers will fade into the background. You are still able to see where the layer information is, but it allows you to get a better view of the other layers.

Note: When Fade Unselected Layers is active, there is a tick next to it in the View menu. To deactivate it, choose Fade Unselected Layers again. The tick will disappear and the layers will be displayed normally.
