Important Message:
Whilst customisation of the AVA interface may be desirable, we suggest approaching with extreme caution as it can result in perceived inaccuracies in the visual, even when working with an accurately calibrated system. Such inaccuracies are not real as such but a much deeper result of the general psyche and its colour perception. Anomalies such as lightness and chromatic induction can take effect should the background be in direct contrast with the design content. Objects can appear lighter or darker, larger or smaller or even colour exhibiting a completely different hue than the actual target colour. With this in mind, we recommended choosing your custom background colours carefully, perhaps sticking with a neutral, mid grey or the current substrate colour.
In the example animation below, the two gradient circles appear to be of different colouring when appearing on top of the gradient square. However, when the square is removed, both circles are identical.
