Located in the File Menu, the File Browser shows your open and recent files using Quick Look technology, helping you organise your workspace and easily navigate to your chosen document.
With Use Grouped Windows ticked in the Appearance Settings , the File Browser uses a tabbing system, and the high quality design previews let you easily locate your open and recently opened files and palettes, as well as those linked to the AVA Productivity Manager server if you use this.
Opening the File Browser
Scrolling the browser will allow you to view all files located in the selected tab, conveniently sorted into alphabetical order, enabling quick navigation to the chosen document. When browsing the Open documents tab, you have the option to close or save all your open files with just one click from the bottom left corner.
Activating the File Browser tabbing system
- Go to AVA Menu > Settings > Appearance.
- Tick Use Grouped Windows. Your File Browser will now appear in tabs, allowing you to organise your files for easy and quick access.
Adding a new tab to your File Browser
To add a new tab in your File Browser, simply click on + and name it accordingly. To specify the content of the tab, click on the word Documents > Choose and navigate to the folder you wish to link.
Once a folder is specified and added as a tab, the folder location on the Mac® will be displayed as a path within the File Browser. The back button to the left of the window allows you to exit a folder and see where you currently are in the file system.
Editing or deleting a File Browser tab
To further edit or remove a tab, click and hold on the new tab to reveal the Edit and Remove options. If you select Edit, you now have the option to name and specify the location of the linked folder.
Setting folders to open as tabs
You can set folders in a specific location to automatically open as tabs in your File Browser.
To do this, simply follow the below steps:
- Open your Finder Window.
- Navigate to Home user > Library > Application Support > AVA > Custom File Browser Locations.
- Drag any folders you wish to open as tabs in the File Browser into this location.
Viewing files as a list and reordering the columns
The content of your File Browser can also be displayed as a list if preferred.
Simply click on the list icon in the top right corner of your File Browser. To return to preview mode, select the corresponding button, located next to list view.
An advantage to viewing your files as a list is the ability to change the order of your File Browser content. You have the option to sort by name, modification date, creation date or size by clicking on the relevant table heading. These columns can be moved and reordered.
