The first time you install AVA, it should be done via the link sent to your email address. Once AVA is installed, any available updates of the software are available through the automatic software updater.
Before Installing AVA
- Check you have the minimum system requirements with a minimum of 16GB ram installed. For further information please call AVA Technical Support.
- If you are updating your AVA version, quit any AVA related applications that are running. These include ColourSys, AVA CMS Controller, Printer Cal, Monitor Cal the AVA Digital Print Rip and AVA Productivity Manager.
Installing AVA
All AVA releases are sent out by email. These emails contain a link to download a disk image of the new software version from the AVA server.
- Click on the download link on the release email.
- The following window will open in your web browser. Click Download:
- When the download is complete, double click on the dmg file in your downloads folder.
- This will display the software licence agreement. Please read and click agree to continue. If you would like to discuss any part of the licence agreement, please contact AVA Support for further information before proceeding.
- The following window will appear.
- The disk image will expand. When completed you will be presented with the following window. Please drag AVA 5.x into your applications folder.
- Once copied across, go to Applications > AVA 5.nn and drag the AVA, ColourSys and AVA CMS Controller applications to your Dock, along with any other applications you require from the AVA suite.
- You will now need to get your key code to use the new software. To do this, please go to Applications > AVA 5.nn > AVA Utilities and open the AVA Keying Utility application.
- In here, please click Manage Cloud Keys
- Click the plus button to add your Cloud key (your code should have been supplied when you received your key, if you don't have this please Contact AVA Technical Support.
Automatic updates
Occasionally we will release remote maintenance updates to the AVA software to ensure its stability and maintainability. We highly recommend installing all of these updates to ensure that you have the best user experience.
The AVA software checks for updates over the internet automatically when launched. You can also manually check for updates using the “Check for updates…” option in the AVA menu. The first time you launch an AVA application you will be asked if you want to Check for updates on startup? Clicking Yes makes AVA check every time you launch. Pressing No indicates that you wish to check manually via the “Check for updates..” option.
If a newer version exists, you are automatically alerted and given the opportunity to download and install it. Often a short note giving the reason for the update appears on the information window. When the window appears telling you that an update is available, you are given three options:
- Skip this Version
- Remind Me Later
- Install Update
If no updates are available, a similar message to the one below will appear:
