Omit pad layers from printing

Prevent pad layers from printing

If you add a coloured pad layer to your design to help you create colourways which will eventually be printed onto a dark substrate, you need to make sure this layer is not sent to print, and this article explains how to do that.

Pad layers are usually added to designs by going to Separate Menu > Make Pad. if you use this method, the layer added to your design will automatically be named Pad. If you add the layer using an alternative method, you will need to name the layer yourself.

  1. Go to AVA Menu > Settings and select Printer.
  2. Switch on Omit Layers With Names and enter the name of the layer you do not want to print.  For example, Pad. Layers named Pad in the Layers Palette will not print, regardless of whether they are visible at the time of printing.
