Controlling The Activity and Visibility of Layers using Palettes

How to select layers with a palette

Editors are a key part of AVA’s Palette technology and enable the user to completely customise their automated workflows. The Select Layers Editor provides very sophisticated ways of activating layers within automated workflows, and this article aims to provide a thorough understanding of how it works.

Open the Select Layers Editor by clicking on the spanner icon shown in the snapshot below:

What do all the options mean?

Make Matching Layers – choose whether to make the defined layers selected or unselected

The above status will be applied to any layers which fit the following criteria.

  • Any | All | None - of the following are true
  • Name | Index (layer number) | Type | Profile - select the property of the layer
  • Contains | begins with | ends with | is | is not - choose the criteria that property must meet
  • Use the dialogue box to complete the criteria
  • Ignore Non-Matching Layers - the activity status of any layers which fall outside the criteria will remain unchanged
Delete

Note: The same settings can be found in the Visible Layers editor.  The only difference here is that the search criteria will determine which layers are made visible / invisible.
