Opening Datacolour QTX files

ColourSys opens Datacolour QTX files, including ones which were saved in batch mode

  • Go to File Menu > Open
  • Select the mode ColourSys and Text Import in the open window and highlight a “.qtx” file

Working with CxF files

The CxF file format is an industry standard for colour interchange. In ColourSys you can open an array of this widely used file type.

The following files can be opened into ColourSys, by going to File Menu > Open.

  • Files exported as CxF from ColourSys
  • Files created by X-Rite’s i1 software (containing reflectance data)
  • X-Rite’s example CxF from the SDK
  • ORIS CxF Toolbox

Note: If you come across an unreadable CxF example file, please send the file to AVA Technical Support. It is possible (but not guaranteed) that we may be able to look into it.

Opening named colour profiles

Named colour profiles (NCP) are a colour space that consists of named colours. These profiles are often used to save colour swatch libraries (used by PANTONE®®® and others). Their file format is “.icc”, and they consist of LAB values.

In ColourSys, you have the ability to open this type of file to use as a new colour library.

  • Go to File Menu > Open
  • Set the Enable option to ColourSys and Text Import
  • Select your NCP (such as the Web safe colour profile) and the colours will be displayed as a colour file
