Sometimes when we have scanned in artwork from fabric there is a subtle texture in the background. We can use some simple filters to help smooth out this problem

1. Duplicate the image.
2. Open the Filter Browser from the Layer Menu.
3. Create a filter set which has a 1or 2 pixel blur and 1 or 2 pixel sharpen.
4.  The resulting image will potentially flatten out textures and unwanted tone, allowing for easier separation.
