Navigation Window: Easily navigate around a design

Navigating designs when zoomed in when in the Design Window or 3D Designer Window

The Navigation Window is a small window that shows a reduced version of the design and can be used for navigating logically around the design, or around the 3D Designer Window.

The Navigation Window is particularly useful when working on large files or when correcting repeat edges. A box within the Navigation Window shows the position of the main window in relation to the whole design.

Navigating the Design Window

  1. Open a design.
  2. Go to Window Menu > Navigation. The following window will open, displaying the active design.
  3. Zoom up and down in the Design Window and scroll around with the Hand Tool. The box will move and change with your movements in real time.
  4. Drag the box in the Navigation Window and see it move the design around within the Design Window. Alternatively, double click on a different part of the design in the Navigation Window and the Design Window will update to show the chosen part.

If you have more than one design open on screen, the Navigation Window will update to show the active design, even when designs are in repeat. Click between several different designs and windows, or change colours or colourways to see the Navigation Window refresh.

Navigating the 3D Designer Window

You can use the Navigation Window in conjunction with AVA 3D Designer to allow you to easily navigate around the simulated design. The windows are now synchronised, so if you have the AVA 3D Designer Window open, the Navigation Window will show which area of your design you are simulating. You can then use the Navigation Window as normal to move around the 3D Designer Window with ease.

  1. Using the 3D Designer Tool, mark out an area of your design to view in the Design Window.
  2. Go to Window Menu > 3D Designer.
  3. You can now use the Navigation Window to scroll around the 3D Designer Window.
