This tool uses the selected brush in the Brushes Library to blur painted edges with a smudged effect. It can be a useful tool to use when fixing repeat joins on heavy tonal designs.

1. Open an existing design, or paint something on the design with the Brush Tool, or another mark making tool.
2. Select the Smudge Tool from the Tools Palette.
3. Drag the cursor over the edge of the painted shapes. You will see the outline begin to smudge.

You can increase the smudge effect by holding down the finger icon and repeatedly moving it over the same area. The effect created can be changed and enhanced in the same way as with the other painting tools, by changing the brush size, transparency and pressure settings.
